Theater maker Nora Akachar and ROSE academy join forces for the new one woman show Ontijd. In this performance, Nora takes you on a series of comic sketches about male-female images. Nora asks critical questions about “women’s issues”. Why do women live longer when they are single, for example?

Ontijd
In Ontijd, Nora gets into the skin of women and men from the Moroccan-Dutch community. She is inspired by her popular Facebook page Trauma’s van Nora (60,000+ members) where experiences, anecdotes and stories are shared about growing up between two cultures. Ontijd is a cheeky solo with drama, sharpness and lightness..
Nora Akachar: “Why do we find certain things so “normal”? Why is it normal that so little scientific research is done on women while they are really different from men? Why are cars only tested on male dummies, for example? These are questions that concern me and I would like to tell you more about them in my performance.”

Decor
For the theatre performance 'Ontijd' I designed a decor that combines the energy of a show quiz with the aesthetics of glitter and glamour. The decor exudes exuberance and contrast, matching the extroverted look of Nora’s purple glitter pantsuit, complemented by golden showbiz tickets.
The background is formed by organically shaped plexiglass panels, which enhance the showbiz atmosphere through their unique shapes and lighting. Do you recognize the shapes of labia in these shapes? These elements create a dynamic decor that is both lively and versatile, perfect for a one-woman show in which Nora plays different characters. To visually distinguish these different roles, golden circles have been strategically integrated, which not only mark the characters, but also clarify their changing perspectives and locations within the play.
This design supports the powerful message of the performance by using the visual language of glitter and glam as an amplifier of the theatrical story, whereby the decor becomes an active part of the performance itself.
